Sony Atones For ICO’s Box Art Disaster With ICO & Shadow Of The Colossus Collection

The original North American box art for PlayStation 2 classic ICO is one of the worst things to ever happen to a wonderful game. Sony is making amends for that visual blight on the PS2 library with its high-definition re-release on the PlayStation 3.

The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, due later this month for the PS3, still has one of those jumbled, text-filled and logo-filled covers. But it’s what’s on the inside of this HD remastering of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus that counts. On the flip side of the game’s cover art lies the beautiful and minimal artwork you see above, a tasteful trend that’s making Sony-published PS3 games easier on the eyes.

ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection hits North American PS3s on September 27, packing in HD visuals, stereoscopic 3D support and 7.1 surround sound.
