Can This Huge Minecraft Stop-Motion Of Link’s Awakening Be Real?

The gang behind that enormous stop-motion Tetris animation in Minecraft have struck again, and this time they have really outdone themselves. It’s a gargantuan stop-motion animation of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, covering the opening montage and the first three minutes of gameplay.

I know what you’re thinking, and so do the guys at MinecraftA2Z. So they’ve provided this video to show their work and how this was created, over a span of five weeks. More than 1000 still images comprise the final animation.

The creators indicate that Notch, Minecraft’s creator, himself doubts the veracity of these videos. I’m unable to find where he says that, if he does, on his tumblr. If this is bogus, that behind-the-scenes video shows they’ve gone to a hell of a lot of trouble to create a fake. Might as well just make the real thing as intended.
