Activision Uninvites Celebrity From Modern Warfare 3 Party After Learning She's A Porn Star

Dutch porn star Kim Holland was invited and then quickly uninvited from a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 VIP party in Amsterdam later this month after the game's publisher discovered what she did for a living, Eigenwereld reports.

The last-minute uninvitation has Holland questioning Activision's seemingly hypocritical take on sex versus violence.

Holland, an avid gamer and big fan of the series, blogs that she was delighted when she got the official invitation for the big Modern Warfare party. She writes that as a guest she was meant to get a copy of the game and a new Xbox 360. But days later she received a second email telling her that she was no longer welcome to the party. The reason? Activision apparently discovered what she does for a living.

Holland posted the email on her blog, which I then used Google to translate, so it's a little sloppy:

"Unpleasant announcement. The American publisher of Modern Warfare 3 has indicated that they prefer no representatives of the adult entertainment industry at the party. And so there must be some women in Britain and the Netherlands who are also canceled. I know, a little hypocritical, but the U.S. is the U.S. and I'm just the messenger."

It appears the email was sent from the folks at Dutch television program Gamekings, who are throwing the big launch party.

Holland wasn't too pleased with the dis-invite. She writes on her blog that she's surprised that a game publisher that makes games about killing people would turn up their noses at someone who is a sex worker.

"People murdering people is neat," she writes, "but love-makers are dirty?"

Reached this morning, Activision declined to comment for this story.

Poor girl. This would really break her heart.

Yeah, but is it Activision that doesn't want to be associated with the Adult Entertainment industry, or is it the TV Channel that GameKings airs on?

So they'll throw a party in Amsterdam and allow you terrorize a public airport but kick out the porn star...FACEPALM!

Groan. Can we hurry up with the cultural revolution please?

I'm as much of a social liberal as anyone else, but can we please not get outraged about every goddamn thing and take it as a slight upon the glorious videogame culture? No shit Activision doesn't want their product being associated with pornstars. Why are we surprised at all about this?

The game is rated for adults, but we all know (Activision included) that teenagers form a huge % of their target demographic. It's prudent of them to not tie it in with a pornstar who will no doubt, raise the alarms of the morality police and mainstream media who'll attack the game further and possibly hurt sales. Not agreeing with what they did, but don't be naive.

Somebody's got their head screwed on straight.

I have to say. I agree that they can't really associate a game that teenagers play, with adult entertainment. But that is a ratings problem too with the game, which really should be AO for the violence. Also, it hasn't stopped activision before, I vaguely remember a pornstar being featured in Tony Hawk 4.

Anwyay, this news is pretty disgusting, porn stars get very little respect and I feel this adds to the unhealthy bias society has against anything to do with sex, which in turn creates massive chauvinism throughout the community. This stuff is adults only, but so violence should be.

People blame the adult industry for creating cheauvenism, and in part that is true. But I also blame the condition of society to treat anyone like this woman like scum (because "sex is wrong" "sex is perverse") - which is not only cruel, but fuels this awful sexist society we live in as adults.

You have at least one point right. There's no-one more chauvinistic than pornographers. As to the hypocrisy, that's arguable. I am however, curious where your assumptions that society treats sex and women as scum comes from.

As far as I'm aware, this attitude largely limited to conservative minorities, most sensible people don't give a shit about porn anymore because it's so mainstream.. And there's no sign in the article that there's some conspiracy to treat this woman like scum, she just had her invitation retracted. I know the old adage that where there's smoke, there's a fire, but this isn't the case.

Guys, guys, guys. Honestly, she's a porn star, in my country that occupation is illegal. It's typical that she's from Amsterdam as well, being a place notorious for its red light district and legal smoking of Marijuana. Now, it may be legal over there to do what she does, but she should be more aware and conscious of the world around her, not everywhere is like Amsterdam, she needs to learn to respect that.

It just really agitates me how her best argument is “People murdering people is neat,” she writes, “but love-makers are dirty?”.

Stop twisting words ma'am, the game isn't about murder, stop being so narrow minded, it's a game based around the world issues we've faced in recent years. And it's not love making either, love making implies that you're sleeping with the person you love, to sleep with any Tom, Dick and Harry is not making love, that's just sex, sweetie. Get over yourself, Kim Holland.

yeh right bozo....she's the narrow-minded one of course. Its a pity that your broad awareness of cultural matters and the art of lovemaking doesn't extend to ordinary courtesy and protocol. What country are you in anyway that porn is illegal - Iran or China?? wanker!

Ginger (Lynn) Allen was in Wing Commander 3, 4 and 5. She made the game (along with others) HIGHLY PROFITABLE and MORE POPULAR.

So why lash out at a GUEST when porn stars are proven ASSETS to gaming?

Did she fuck the other guests? No?

    THEN WHERE IS THE PROBLEM?!

Why Sam, that's a big line to draw. Having a character feature in a game, is a lot different to having someone being invited to the promotional party. If she were in the game it could easily be justified as being part of the game's experience for a driven and compelling narrative. E.g. Dead to Rights had your police partner who happened to be a female also have a second job at night to make ends meat which happened to be her being a stripper, it was realistic and added to the depth of the story.

You can't draw the same comparison with Battlefield 3 though, unfortunately. Battlefield 3 revolves around war and soldiers, conspiracies, and the way in which they have aimed this story does not really relate and is not relevant to porn stars in any way. So I completely understand why they would not want to be associated in the media with porn stars, it's bad publicity for them. They're an entirely different demography to that of say the Grand Theft Auto series, where porn stars would be glorified.

Kim Holland needs a reality check, she only wants the free console and games, this is why she is pissed.

Isn't that what everyone wants when they go to these things? Free booze and other goodies? She's not the first person to ever want something for free.

Plus it's INSULTING to be invited and then UNinvited. I can't figure out why she was invited in the first place. But someone else might have said it already and I missed it.

Oliver Rose you've really got it in for this woman haven't you? You seem to have missed the basic point that she didn't try to invite herself to the party because "she only wants the free console and games", THEY invited HER and then rudely uninvited her because they don't want to be associated with what she does. As others here have said, Activision don't mind being associated with killing and maiming people but they wouldn't want anything suggesting sex to taint their name. Why invite her in the first place if you don't like what she does? As for your comment "Having a character feature in a game, is a lot different to having someone being invited to the promotional party"... you're obviously just a misogynist and a fool.

LEAVE BRITTNAY, er... KIM ALONE!!!! *sobbing, mascarra running*

But seriously, it's pretty rude to invite then uninvite someone. Some might say it's treating someone as inferior to other people, say, like scum for instance.

And I do see a point in the argument that the game has no problem with murder & terrorism, two things the game explicitly requires gamers to partake in.

By comparison, you aren't required to partake or even view sexual activity of any kind in the game, nor at the promotional party I'm guessing!

It's definately an unthinking far right "religious" minority view of morality that has no problem with murder & terrorism but gets all outraged n shit at someone who has had some sex on camera. These people make me want to become a porn star.
