More People Should Be Playing Otomedius Excellent

Released last week for the Xbox 360 amidst a slew of better-known titles, Konami’s Otomedius Excellent is a colourful side-scrolling shooter featuring pretty girls and online co-op for up to three people, if you can find anyone to play with. I can’t. *sniffle*

While everyone else was lining up for Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim last week, I was running out to GameStop to pick up my reserved copy of Otomedius Excellent; the only reserved copy and one of two that made it to the store. I had only heard about the game through the retailers P.O.S. system, catching a glimpse of the colourful cover as an employee was flipping through upcoming releases.

I’ve played the game a great deal since I made the video, mastering the first several levels and making great strides towards finishing the whole thing. What I haven’t done, however, is co-op, because there is nobody playing.

I don’t blame you people. I blame Konami for picking a lousy time to release an obscure title that only a handful of people would truly be excited for.

Hopefully as Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 fever die down others will find time to shoot some things while flying from left to right. Until then, I shoot alone.
