Tell Us Dammit

I'm almost a little sad. All the big hitters of 2011, minus maybe Mario Kart 7, have been released and now all that's left is to bloody play through them all. Maybe it's time to look ahead to 2012 -- what are you guys looking forward to next year?

I'm looking forward to new hardware. I like getting shiny new kit to play with, and I'm particularly looking forward to checking out the Vita and the Wii U.

Software wise -- it's mostly the games I was hoping would come out this year. Journey and The Last Guardian being the main ones.

Oh and Bioshock Infinite.

What about you guys, what are you hoping to see from 2012?

Battle to the death between BioShock Infinite and Mass Effect 3 for me. Can't wait to get hold of the new Hitman too.

Next year are a few maybe games:

    * Max Payne 3
    * Final Fantasy XIII-2
    * MGS Rising?
    * Mass Effect 3 (yes, it's in my maybe pile, even though I'll almost certainly buy it)

Nothing I'm doing cartwheels over, though.

Oh, GTA V. I actually AM doing cartwheels over this.

    The Last Guardian
    Journey
    The Last Guardian
Ni No Kuni (or whatever the hell they're calling it in English)
    The Last Guardian
    Bioshock Infinite
    The Last Guardian
Skyrim (waiting for the GOTY edition)
    The Last Guardian

I've had a few people say that to me - that they are waiting for the Skyrim GOTY edition. I just don't quite get the mentality here.

Just buy it if you want to buy it (unless you are on a tight budget). It's worth the extra money that you'll pay to get all the expansion packs (what like an extra $10?) and you don't have to wait 18 months.

I can agree with the logic in these situations though, unless it's a game that you absolutely must play now, there is no harm in letting some games slide through until a complete edition is released.

Nowdays most people have large backlogs anyway, so being time poor would be a very strong factor. So why not work on a backlog until a GOTY edition is brought out? You don't miss out on the experience of playing the game for the first time and have the complete package, it can be win-win!

That's pretty much it. I've got plenty to play at the moment (Battlefield 3, Dark Souls both in progress and Batman: Arkham Asylum still to be started, and I've even still got a few outstanding quests in Fallout 3 GOTY), so I don't need Skyrim now. I'm happy to wait 12 months and get the DLC thrown in (which will be a lot more than $10 - probably more like $50-60 depedning on how many packs they do and what they charge for them) plus hopefully have to endure fewer bugs assuming there will be a fair few patches between now and then.. I'm in no rush - the game will still be good this time next year.

Getting to play with the Vita is pretty high on my list but Bioshock is way out in front.

I'm most looking forward to some more 3DS games (Kid Icarus and Luigis Mansion in particular), as well as more info on the Wii U.

Not really all that hyped for the Vita personally, but it'll be interesting to see the coverage of it anyway. I can't think of anything off the top of my head for the PS3 that has me super excited either, but I'm sure that will change.

I've been so focused on the end of 2011 I haven't really thought much about next year. :P

I am hoping that 2012 will bring a decent game that is not a sequel, reboot or movie/tv show/comic tie in...

    Pumped for Diablo 3

That reminds me, I have beta access! :P

Umm, little project from a tiny little studio tops my list, some of you may have heard of it. It's called DIABLO 3...

Can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet. Kotaku must be more console-dominated than I first thought.

...and then Zug~ posts a minute before me and makes me look stupid.

        ;-)

Mass Effect 3 is the big one so far.

And I wake up this morning to see Steam Sale! My Pile of Shame will be getting bigger. And to top it off my morning star sign says to stay away from money issues/investments... I can see why.

Wii U is high up there, Mass Effect 3 and Max Payne 3! Oh! MGS3D!

    Mass Effect 3.
    Diablo 3.
    Starcraft: Heart of the Swarm.

Mass Effect 3. Everything else can get fucked.

Also GTAV, Bioshock Infinite, Max Payne, MGS: Rising, FFXIII-2.

TRIALS EVOLUTION... THIS YEAR OR NEXT? (Yes I am shouting)

New UFC game in Jan which I'm pretty pumped for. Mass Effect will be huge.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what the Wii U offers.

Excluding those already mentioned, especially Bioshock: Infinite...
    Leyton Vs Wright!
    The epic ooses

Ohhhh totally forgot about Layton Vs Wright!
      + 1 for that.

Hardware: I'm really interested in the Vita and how it will launch.

    Software:

LAST GUARDIAN( I really hope this game has no preorder and DLC nonsense)

Bioshock Infinite (the sky riding looks great)

    GTA 5

FAR CRY 3 (I enjoyed Far Cry 2 and I'm intrigued at the chance of exploring an open world FPS)

Really looking forward to the PS Vita, and The Old Republic, which is a 2011 game if you've ordered it on Amazon ;)

Give me Max Payne 3, Twisted Metal, Bioshock Infinite, GTA V, The Last Guardian & Luigi's Mansion 2. Also looking forward to picking up a Vita & Wii U, luv new consoles:)
If I need a sleeping aid, i'll pick up Mass Effect 3

Oh & Sly 4, it looks sweet!

Gearbox year for me. Aliens: Colonial Marines and Borderlands 2 make me wet. And I guess Mass Effect 3. Diablo 3 if I can get it sub $30.

Oooh man I forgot all about Aliens: CM. Definitely keen on that if it doesn't suck.

Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect 3, HAWKEN WOOOOO!!!!
Plus I'm still keeping a sharp eye on Mechwarrior Online to see how that pans out.

Tomb Raider, add that to my list. Here's hoping it lives up to the outstanding e3 trailers.

    The Last Guardian
    Starhawk
    Twisted Metal
    Bioshock Infinite
    SSX
    Tomb Raider
    Syndicate
    Hitman Absolution
Grand Theft Auto V (it will be 2012)
    All things Vita!

    From the rumour mill...
    Timesplitters 4 (I believe!)

I have been employed by the interwebs to let you know that IT WILL NOT HAPPEN

        Shutup, shutup!!!!

I will not have you and your employer ruining my birthday!!! :p
