This Is The World You’ll Be Fighting To Save In Skyrim

There’s so much I want to show you folks in The Elder Scrolls V, but I can’t; not yet, at least. In the meantime, here’s an official Bethesda look at the people and places of Skyrim.

I also wish I was curled up on the couch playing the game right now instead of typing about it to you, if that’s any consolation. Probably not.

  • If I wasn’t sold already, 1:50 would have done the job. Any time a game adds in an aurora that looks that good, I’m there

  • Hmm, still far from sold on this. World still looks full of soulless vessels perambulating about completely meaninglessly. Though the speeches laid over the top of the trailer were nice and engaging – I hope they’re actually delivered by well animated (or mocapped) characters unlike the worse-than-Thunderbirds of past.

Ah who am I kidding, I won’t be getting this until the inevitable GOTY edition rolls around next year.

        • Somewhere along the line my appetite for completely unstructured gaming went in a different direction to the rest of me. I loved Morrowind, really really loved it (and my expectations were through the roof as I dearly loved Arena and Daggerfall too). I couldn’t stand Oblivion, and didn’t care for the Fallout 3 games either for much the same reason (dreadful dialogue, NPCs and lack of structure or purpose – things which are by and large subjective to me alone).

They are fundamentally the same game Morrowind and Oblivion, and yet I just couldn’t give a toss for Oblivion. Skyrim rubs me in the same way from what they’ve shown so far.

Like I said, GOTY edition plus well established modding community and 1/2 price game in 12 months sounds like a victory to me. Still have Dark Souls, UC3 and GoW3 to play (or replay) through! I’ll be reading all the feedback from the fans of the series’ throughout the week though – can’t help myself!

  • Wow, it’s like they took notice of all the mods for Oblivion. Now, how to organise an early retirement so I will have time to play …

  • I sincerely hope it’s not another crappy console port and they have proper PC GUI with inventory etc. If I have to press A to accept and B to cancel I will cry

  • SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM!

  • I wonder if they’ll ever get the “extra walks across screen in the background at an even gait” part sorted. Every one of those walking across screen people are exactly the same.
    /end stupidly insane nitpick

  • Wow – I haven’t heard the voices in this before – they SUCK. What’s with the crazily inconsistent accents? Isn’t this like the Northern Europe of Tamriel?

Still, I don’t exactly play these games for the story anyway. Its all about the questing.

  • I was sold before, but that still looks cool. I really like the look of the beast races now too. They look nasty in all the right way I think.

  • YUCKY.

Recorded in console peasant 30 frames per second instead of PC master race 60+ frames per second

Looks so unsmooth and disgusting.. How can you console guys even play with only 30 frames per second? It hurts my eyes

    • I’m going to guess that being part of the PC master race, you’re probably also genetically superior to us cro-magnon-like console guys.

  • I’ve put off buying anything else, including Uncharted 3, as I continue to anticipate the release of this game. It’s the only game I am truly interested in this year. And even though Mass Effect 3 will steal some of the lime light in March 2012, this will still be the game I turn to in times of need.

  • I may explode before I can touch this game. The anticipation is killing.

Whats worse is I’m working Saturday so it won’t be till Sunday that I can really get stuck into it.
