A Video Tour Of The 16 New Tracks In Mario Kart 7

This week, we’ve taken a look at Mario Kart 7‘s online multiplayer and community pages, so for my last launch-week video, I wanted to take a quick tour through the 16 new tracks that Nintendo has created for the game. They run the gamut from simple racetracks to elaborate, multi-level roller-coasters, and a couple already rank among my favourite Kart tracks.

In addition to the 16 new tracks in the video, the game comes with 16 classic tracks, which have been updated with 3D graphics and some cool hang-gliding and underwater bits. Those classics include:

  • Luigi Raceway (N64
  • Bowser Castle 2 (GBA)
  • Mushroom Gorge (Wii)
  • Luigi’s Mansion (DS)
  • Koopa Beach (N64)
  • Mario Circuit 2 (SNES)
  • Coconut Mall (Wii)
  • Waluigi Pinball (DS)
  • Kalamari Desert (N64)
  • DK Pass (DS)
  • Daisy Cruiser (GCN)
  • Maple Treeway (Wii)
  • Koopa Cape (Wii)
  • Dino Dino Jungle (GCN)
  • Airship Fortress (DS)
  • Rainbow Road (SNES)

There are also six arenas for the Balloon Battles and Coin Runners modes, three of which are new and three of which are reused.

  • Battle Course 1 (GBA)
  • Big doughnut (N64)
  • Palm Shore (DS)
  • Honeybee Hive (New)
  • Sherbet Rink (New)
  • Wuhu Town (New)

It’s a good selection overall, and while a couple of the new race tracks aren’t that interesting, the majority are great, and a few feel like instant classics.
