Portal 2 Snags Gamasutra's Game Of The Year

The industry and design-focused publication Gamasutra has released their list of the top 10 games of the year, with Valve's Portal 2 coming in at the top.

"All that extra 'stuff' isn't just superfluous," writes editor-in-chief Kris Graft, "every new addition has a purpose and has a meaning. They made Portal 2 better than the original. Leave it to Valve to screw up the old adage, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.'"

It is, in my opinion, a freakin' solid top 10 throughout, featuring Rayman: Origins, Super Mario 3D Land, Catherine and Orcs Must Die in addition to usual suspects like Skyrim and Batman: Arkham City.

They put Skyward Sword and Arkham City above Skyrim? Hellllll no. Nuh uh. No way. Nope. Not even.

Portal 2 I can kinda see them justifying, tho I personally would disagree, but not those two

Skyrim's buggy, dumb and largely unfinished.

Shh, you'll anger the fanboy with your logic.

Try playing the PC version. Sounds like you're a console player, and there were indeed several significant problems with it. Not so much for the PC release, which whilst not fully optimised was a much cleaner release than the console versions

Good thing it's just their opinion, then!

Deserving of the #1. AMAZING title as single player, great fun with a friend in co-op!

You must have very low standards if Portal 2 was amazing...

You must have even lower standards if you didn't enjoy portal 2.

Huh, wouldn't that mean he has extremely high standards to not have enjoyed protal2?

Suq (I get the name, hence not typing the whole thing), it was the story and gameplay, not to mention the co-op! It took a stocking stuffer from Orange Box and made it a game worth our inflated Aussie prices!

I'd say that's pretty bloody impressive!

If you need more, get the Mass Effect games or Skyrim and quit trolling.

I got portal 2 for &7.50 in the steam Christmas sale.

Annoyingly bought it 2 days before it went on special, but loved it so much I can only say that Valve deserve my extra, precious, $17 (or whatever). Personally, prefer it to Skyrim and I reckon it deserves as much critical acclaim as it can muster.

Good. I had it #2 (after Deus Ex) but I was getting really sick of the SKYRIM SKYRIM SKYRIM thing. Just call me Jan Brady.
