Do you remember the game from this fragment of a screenshot? My recent Remember This games have been far too easy to guess, so today I’ve gone for something that I am certain is kind of obscure, and I have been assured that it received a worldwide release so that Aussies would have had access to it at some point. Leave your answer in the comments!

That black thing looks like it’s slowly panning across the screen when I stare at it…oh sorry, I don’t know what the game it is.

Looks like Space Quest 2. I don’t know what makes me say that, but that’s the vibe I get.

Tracey did put a clue in this one, so I don’t know why people are guessing Sierra or Lucas Arts, unless they didn’t read it.
This is probably a console game so I’ll just duck out now. I don’t know it.-

“I have been assured that it received a worldwide release so that Aussies would have had access to it at some point.”
Tracey also said it was fairly obscure. I don’t think Sam and Max counts as obscure, not for the time.

Do the rules allow us to revise our guess per clue?
Anyway, I want to say Ufouria, because it’s obscure and I love that game. However, the blue looks a lot like the water from Snake, Rattle and Roll so that’s my guess for now.

Guess as many times as you like (but don’t spam your guesses because that is annoying, lol).

Oh I’m not guessing, I know it’s not Ufouria. I just react like this whenever I find someone else who played the game 🙂

Off topic, I was thinking today why don’t we do a remember this video game tune. Reckon it could work?

I concur, clearly his nose from beneath.
” Our country reeks of trees, our yaks are really large, and they smell like rotting beef carcasses. And we have to clean up after them, and our saddle sores are the best. We proudly wear women’s clothing and searing sand blows up our skirts. And the buzzards they soar overhead, and poisonous snakes will devour us whole, and our bones will bleach in the sun. And we will probably go to… “

I think you’re on to something… however it looks like the wrong blue for Stimpy’s Invention. Didn’t realise how MANY R&S games are out there though!

The thing is though, in the days of platformers on the mega drive, Stimpy’s nostrils would have been a few pixels wide at best. If this is indeed a screenshot, it would have to be of the title screen or something. Although I do vaguely remember platforming across a giant stimpy nose in one of the levels in that game…

Kind of looks like a Wizardry style game so I’m gonna change my guess to Wizardry: The Magic of Pregnancy

I am just going to give everyone the answer before I forget to post it.
The game is… 8-Bit Girlfriend! http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/8-bit-Girlfriend/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8025855058c
It’s an Xbox Live game that was released last year! 😀

I think that interest in that game dropped off when it turned out not to have as much nudity as your typical Japanese dating sim set in a high school
Well played, Tracey!

I’m kinda proud that no one actually knew it first hand. It would be disappointing to know there were those among us who play such dating games.. unless its a pisstake game, I’m not familiar with it at all..
Also, Tracey, speaking of not updating these, I don’t think yesterdays was ever solved or revealed.. what was it?

It was Battlefield 1942

Hey man, Mobygames.com said it received a worldwide release! I’ve been checking everything against Moby Games since people started complaining that I was using games that weren’t released in Australia! (In short, I was lied to. I am never trusting anyone ever again.)

I think you can consider this one a win, but don’t forget the spirit of “Remember This” is nostalgia first, friendly competition second, reason for editor kudos/chagrin third.

Technically it was a worldwide release, just not everyone in the world has access to XBLIG.
I kinda like the ones where it’s not released in Australia because I find out about other titles I may not have known about otherwise.

A search on the AU marketplace turned up nothing. Did this see an Aus release? Also, picking a random marketplace title that rates lower than the thousands of poorly made minecraft knockoffs and other titles such as College Lacrosse 2011 and Baby Maker Extreme 2? Seems like a bit of a stretch to try and beat us.

In all fairness, I have access to xbox live indie games. I did have to create a US account, so technically it is available here.
