Today the PS Vita went on sale Japan. One also arrived at my house! And in this video, I fire it up for the first time.
The PS Vita, Sony’s successor to the PlayStation Portable, will launch in the in the US and Europe on February 22, 2012. In Australia, we’ll get the machine on February 23.

WTF? It’s the weekend and some brand new hardware is released, are you suggesting they simply ignore it?
It beats having nothing new. Hell if there was nothing to complain about many people would be lost.
Looks pretty cool, but what’s with the swipe thing at the beginning? It seems kinda pointless (or as though Sony is screaming “hey look, it has a touch screen, impressed?”)
That might have just been a first-boot thing, as a way to make sure the user realises that they’ll need to interact with it as a touch screen device during setup.
I would say that this was six minutes of my life that i’ll never get back, but I only watched the video for about ten secionds before realising how pointless and stupid it was.

Oh god, what a long-winded setup… I wonder if you can just use the dpad to scroll the menu, touchscreen controls for the sake of it are such a slow way of inputting data.
Oh gosh I was so frustrated with you going ‘how do you set the date’… hasn’t this guy used an iphone before? >_>
