During the VGA Awards, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima took the stage and introduced the new trailer for Metal Gear: Rising trailer. Things didn’t go smoothly. At all.
Whether Kojima was simply nervous or there was a teleprompter problem, I don’t know. I do know that things went south pretty quick.
As someone who gets nervous when being interviewed on camera (especially in another language!), I feel for the guy — knowing how cool, savvy, and, to put it nicely, confident he sounds in his native tongue.
Things did get better after this clip ended. And after “Did you rike it?” became a meme, I’m glad to see Kojima — who adores Western films and novels — giving his presentation in English, and I hope this latest snafu won’t discourage him from doing it again in the future.
