BlizzCon Skips 2012 As Blizzard Focuses On Kicking EButt And Making Games

BlizzCon, the annual fan celebration of all things Blizzard-related gets a little less annual this year. The company has decided to hold the next convention in 2013 to focus on finishing Diablo III, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria and the 2012 Battle.net World Championship.

A great deal of work goes into securing guests, selling convention floor space, generating new swag, and otherwise organising Blizzards annual fan convention. With the developer planning to release three major products in 2012, perhaps it’s for the best that they skip a year in order to make sure I don’t have to spend another event bugging them about Diablo III and Heart of the Swarm‘s release dates. So the convention has been pushed to 2013, where I expect we’ll all return refreshed and ready to barely contain our adoration of everything they make.

And hey, think of the panda cosplay fans could craft given a whole year off!

Along with making games, Blizzard will also focus strongly on eSports this year with the 2012 Battle.net World Championship. Taking place in Asia towards the end of 2012, the Battle.net World Championship will include the StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments.

Maybe if I’m really good this year Stephen will send me to Asia instead of Anaheim, California. *flutters eyelashes*
