Death Brings Nimble Platforming And Speedy Combat To Darksiders II

In Vigil games' upcoming Darksiders II, players assume the mantle of Death, who is pretty much the only "personified supernatural force" more badass than War, the protagonist of the first game. The video above demonstrates gameplay from the early chapters of the game, showcasing Death's lighter move-set and quicker combat abilities.

Our intern Pierre saw a demo of Darksiders II last week; by his telling, the game will feature a larger scope and a more open map than its predecessor, much more platforming and a more nimble protagonist, and more armour customisation options for Death. You can see a lot of that in the video.

See below for shots for the game's most recent trailer the game. We'll have some more in-depth impressions later today.

The trailer above depicts how Death, man's simplest and greatest fear, has evolved over the ages to become the character that we will take control of in the game.

    This is looking great.

Reminds me I really need to finish Darksiders 1.

+1 for me. Kept putting aside when something shiny and new came out

You realy should try to finish it... the ending was great...
(I must admit I put it down for 6-12 months before going back and wrapping it up... I've been looking forward to the sequel since finishing it though)

I picked it up for $14 at Big W over Christmas.

      So far: loving the mythology.

Not loving: some of the cheap boss fights (the guy who chucks cars at you while you're on a small island of highway).

Then again, I'm playing on stupid hardcore, so I get two-shotted by trash mobs.

You're actually supposed to lose that fight if memory serves. It's unwinnable. Don't worry, you'll get your revenge on him.

Stick with it on Hardcore. It's not that hard once you get into it.

+1 to the needing to start. I feel bad for the sequel, because part 1 is so far down my pile of shame I'll likely never get to it. Much like Alpha Protocol. :(

Well-worth a play through. The platforming and puzzling is challenging.

he looks like Vega in the last shot

I can't stop seeing him as some sort of undead Casey Jones...

This is looking great!! Super excited!

looks like Kain from Soul Reaver.
