It's the worst kind of surprise, and I feel bad because we just posted the new trailer. But it's been confirmed — we won't be seeing Aliens: Colonial Marines until September, at the earliest.
Game Informer managed to squeeze the unfortunate news out of Sega, the publisher stating the game will miss its autumn release and won't be out until spring 2012. Here's what it had to say:
"While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date."
And by "say", I mean waste air. Or electrons. Ah well... I suppose additional polish is good, but let's not take any skin off, OK?
