The Smithsonian’s Going To Throw A GameFest

You did vote to get your favourite games into The Art of Video Games exhibit, didn’t you? If not, don’t crying that Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom didn’t make it into the show. Anyway, we’re only two short months away from the exhibit’s opening of at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Smithsonian’s announced that they’re holding a two-day celebration.

GameFest gathers up some of the coolest bands and the sharpest and most influential names in games design during the third weekend of March and throws in a bunch of video games to boot. There’ll be a keynote by Atari founder Nolan Bushnell and panels featuring Irrational Games’ Ken Levine as well as Robin Hunicke and Kellee Santago from thatgamecompany. Musical acts 8 Bit Weapon, ComputeHer and TriForce Quartet will be performing all weekend, too. You can get the full rundown here but, basically, if you’re a lover of video games past or present, attendance is practically mandatory.
