Yu Suzuki Is Still Talking About Shenmue 3…

Shenmue — it was very good. So good, in fact, that fans are still clamouring for the franchise to continue almost 11 years after the second game was released. Yu Suzuki, the creator of Shenmue isn’t doing these poor folks any favours by hinting about the possibility of his new studio obtaining the Shenmue license from SEGA and creating the third entry. Come on Suzuki, don’t be so cruel!

The original Shenmue was the most expensive video game ever made at the time, and didn’t recoup its costs, but still, a core group of fans still lament the fact that this series, which was planned up to “until chapter 11” according to Suzuki, was canned after the release of Shenmue 2.

I have to say, despite the enthusiasm (or elite trolling skills) of Yu Suzuki, I don’t think a proper sequel to Shenmue 3 will ever make it to stores.

Keep dreaming the good dream folks.
