This Mass Effect Movie Actually Stars The Real Commander Shepard

This is a trailer for Red Sand, an ambitious fan film billing itself as a prequel to the events of the Mass Effect trilogy of video games. What makes me bring this to your attention is the fact it stars a guy called Mark Meer.

Who is the voice actor behind the male Commander Shepard in the games.

Confusingly, he's not actually playing Shepard (which is lucky, because he looks nothing like the Dutch model who the character is actually based on), but the role of Colonel Jon Grissom, an Alliance soldier tasked with defending Prothean relics found on Mars.

The not-playing-Shepard thing also makes sense when you consider Red Sand is set 35 years before the first game.

    yeahhhhhh.......great voice.....looks a bit awkward though

    Oh dear.

      my words eactly

        *exactly*

Wow, that was actually surreal to watch, you typically see people who either can act and can voice act, and people who cannot act or voice act. His voice worked, but his body language and facial expressions looked very.... fan film :P
There's an interesting case study for a acting/film student k go!

Well, there are many people out there who would argue that he can't voice act either.

(Not me, I like his work as BroShep.)

I love the story idea, it's a period of the universe we almost never get to see.

I wonder how they got him involved and bioware well actually EA's stance on him doing it as it could potentially damage the franchise especially if it is as crappy as the trailer

Can't be any more damaging to the franchise than, say, Mass Effect 3.

too wimpy for a colonel, needs to hit the weights

man that guy needs to eat 200 grams of chicken every 2 hrs or "ride the bicycle" and hit the gym hectically. SO SKINNY!
