Following EA’s pull of Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store two weeks ago, EA recently revealed that The Simpsons: Tapped Out is getting the same treatment.

But while Battlefield 3: Aftershock was plagued with crashes and connectivity issues, EA is pulling The Simpsons: Tapped Out for an entirely different issue.

Pocket Gamer reports that an anonymous gamer posted on EA’s help forum to inquire about the game, but was met with a disappointing response from a representative:

To ensure current players have the best possible experience, we’ve temporarily removed The Simpsons: Tapped Out from the App Store to limit the game’s server capacity to its current players and address connectivity and lag time issues.

EA pulled The Simpsons: Tapped Out because of its overwhelming popularity, which seems to be overloading their servers.

Fortunately for those who already own the game, EA predicts that their sessions will run more smoothly. “If you’ve downloaded the game, you can continue to play,” EA explains in the forum. “Actually, your experience should only improve as we work on a solution.”

And for those looking to pick up the game after all this excitement, The Simpsons: Tapped Out should return after they’ve figured out how to handle the apparently unexpected amount of players:

As soon as we have resolved these issues to handle greater player capacity, we will return The Simpsons: Tapped Out to the App Store so that even more people can enjoy this “life-ruiningly fun” game. Meanwhile, thanks to everyone for their patience, and we will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share.

Updates are being posted on their official Facebook page.

    • it’s called being cheap and trying to squeeze every dollar they can from us (for those who pay). they thought they could recycle their current servers and put that server cash into corporate pockets. now we have to wait while they upgrade. typical business strategy in today’s world.

  • I think that the main reason might be that it’s buggy as! If you’ve read the reviews some people can’t even get past the title screen…the people who can play it say it’s good but as for sever issues they should be fixing the bugs.

    • Yea, if I can actually get into the game its pretty fun but most of the time it cant connect. They should of made it offline play aswell :\

  • EA never seems to get it right at launch with server capacity etc. took months for bad company 2 on pc and then again with bf3 and the Simpsons. One day, one day.

  • I think this may be what happened to our BF3 servers – they’ve taken them away in order to boost the server numbers for Simpsons Tapped Out.

**** you, EA. **** you in your stupid, stupid ****.

  • And yet, people continue to pour countless millions into EA’s purse.

I really do not feel sorry for those people, because they have not, nor will they ever learn.
