Here’s How You’ll Operate Steel Battalion’s Kinect-Powered Tanks

After I played Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor last month at Microsoft’s spring showcase, I called it the hardest-core Kinect game yet.

This tutorial video gives a sense of why that is, demonstrating all of the various moves available to players inside the cockpit of their vertical tank mech, or “VT”. By combining the Xbox 360 controller with full kinect support, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor essentially layering motion controls on top of a controller to make things even more involved and immersive.

The tutorial is fairly mellow at first, but frequently intercuts with extreme action, giving a good sense of just how chaotic this game cam get. By the end, it’s all screaming crew-members, a smoke-filled main cabin, broken glass, and complicated controls… until there’s nothing to do but press the big red button.
