Notch's New Game Takes Place In The Year 281474976712644 AD

The man who made the grand, open-ended Minecraft appears to want to go bigger with his next game. Markus "Notch" Persson and his team at Mojang have launched an official website for the new game — which is called "0x10c" — and Notch's plans make Minecraft seem paltry.

Partial plot summary:

It's now the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD, and the first lost people are starting to wake up to a universe on the brink of extinction, with all remote galaxies forever lost to red shift, star formation long since ended, and massive black holes dominating the galaxy.

Partial features list:

  • Fully working computer system.
  • Space battles against the AI or other players.
  • Abandoned ships full of loot.
  • Duct tape!
  • Seamlessly landing on planets.
  • Advanced economy system.
  • Random encounters.
  • Mining, trading, and looting.
  • Single and multi player connected via the multiverse.

Like Minecraft the game will be released to the public before it's done, so gamers can offer feedback and help shape its creation.

Seems awesome. Literally.

    feels like a troll

    "Seems awesome. Literally."

    Thfuck does that even mean?

'Literally' means in the true sense of the word (ie not slang or colloquial meanings) and hence 'awesome' means to inspire awe, not just that it is cool or radical.
0x10c 'seem' to have the potential of doing exactly that

or it could just be a flop.

Yeah really just rolls of the tounge,0X10c what 10 cents?10 degrees celcius?WTF not catchy like "Mine-craft" even if theat does rip-off Blizzard's names.I wonder if now he's well established if He released another game with "craft" in it Blizzard would go all Bethesda on his arse?Imagine if it was named Space-Craft.

The bigger problem with that is that in Minecraft you do 2 things, essentially. You mine and you craft, although there are obviously more sinister reasons for calling it Minecraft, it would be difficult to actually claim infringement over that. Blizzard do not own the word craft and if Notch decided to call his game Spacecraft, as long as the game was not too similar to Starcraft, there would be, essentially, no leg to stand on.

0x10c looks a lot like a memory address to me.

As opposed to being just figuratively awesome?
