Six Bond Films Merge To Form 007 Legends

With so many James Bond films to choose from, why make another video game based on only one? GoldenEye 007: Reloaded developer Eurocom and Activision visit six different Bond flicks later this year in 007 Legends.

While 007 Legends is technically a tie-in with this year’s new Daniel Craig Bond flick, Skyfall, the game will explore great moments from five classic 007 adventures before tapping into the latest one. While Activision isn’t offering details on which classic film moments will make an appearance in Legends, they promise a homage that does the 50-year-old film franchise justice.

“To honour 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet,” said David Oxford, executive vice president at Activision Publishing via official press release. “Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”

As for gameplay, It sounds like more GoldenEye-style shooting. The Mi6 Ops Missions from GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will return, this time allowing players to take on the role of Bond villains, and the online multiplayer experience from the last Bond game will be updated with new maps, weapons and characters.

I guess they’re going to have to use Daniel Craig in these classic situations as well. Not sure how I feel about that. I’ll let you know as we get closer to 007 Legends‘ Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 launch later this year.
