Some Very Early Screenshots Of Minecraft Creator's Next Game

Marcus "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft, is working on something new. It's called 0x10.cc, and is a sci-fi game that's got some neat ideas, promising things like working computers and the ability to "seamlessly [land] on planets".

Another neat idea he's had, and one which more developers could do with following, is that he's already released (or at least, hosted on his site) some screenshots of the game. Despite the fact that, at this stage, it's barely a game at all.

So they're rough, yes, and appear to be including a low-poly Team Fortress 2 character, but the point here is that he's giving you an idea of what he's thinking and where he's at, not what the marketing team determines we think will make us buy something.

looks like its gonna be java like mc again....

To this, I say ugh. Minecraft already chugs pretty hard as it is on my laptop.

My god! how old is your laptop ?

wouldn't be so quick to judge, minecraft is surprisingly cpu intensive. Don't let the graphics fool you.

He's stated on twitter that he has dropped the Sci-fi part of the game.

the 'hard sci-fi' aspect I think he said. Basically he wanted everything to be very set in real-world science without magical sort of sci-fi (mass effect/star wars) ticks being used to explain away stuff. But he's found it too hard so hes just dropped the 'hard sci-fi' part of it.

I believe he's dropped from "hard" to "soft" sci-fi. Google those terms :)

Perhaps they should work on their customer service and tech support before starting on a new game. over the course if a year and a half i have emailed them countless of times in regards to my account that I could no longer access. I have yet to her from them.

      Maybe its your terrible spelling.

Is that with or without the optionial hi-res texture pack?

Where did the ".cc" come from? The mistake is made repeatedly.

A lack of double checking methinks. It's still 0x10^c (The '^' denoting superscript 'c').

I don't know why but the last picture reminds me of runescape :S

    methinks one trick pony.

"some screenshots of the game. Despite the fact that, at this stage, it’s barely a game at all."

Methinks you have no comprehension of words - Should have asked the Easter Bunny for a dictionary this year instead of chocolate.

Hmm looks more like a graphics engine test than anything else. Except the C64 type console screen, which excites me slightly.
