Community Kudos

After last week’s mega nom-fest, I wondered if this week’s might be a little less crazy. But I forgot this was Kotaku. I forgot that you guys were mental.

So I want to open today’s Community Kudos post with a big thank you to everyone who sent me a birthday message, a card, an awesome photoshop image or — in Lambo’s case — a bloody video game! You really made my day. I really appreciate it.

First thing I got was this, from Ruffleberg, who knows me so well…

Then a couple of hours later, this cleverly mutilated packshot came my way!

That was from AlexPants — who admitted that cutting out an image of my face felt creepy!

Cakesmith sent me this terrifying GIF, so I’m dreading any birthday cakes that I receive over the weekend. And major thanks to the irrepressible Blaghman, who blessed me with another recording of his sweet, sweet voice.

Tadmod even returned to haunt me, with this COMPLETELY FABRICATED NEWS STORY.

Powalen managed to place in a surprising, starring role — WHY DIDN’T YOU PUT ME IN BRAVEHEART!?

Scree managed to perfectly capture my intense love for Irn Bru. Thanks!

Greenius managed to put together one of the most terrifying things I have ever seen in my life…

Finally, Lamboman007, bloody made a video game that focused on my hatred of pants (and my love of lumberjack shirts)!

You can play the game here. Lambo — it was absolutely incredible! Well done!

Seriously everyone — you all made me day! Thanks so much everyone, and thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes and what not.

Alrighty… TO THE KUDOS CAVE!

According to Cakesmith, Bish deserves all of the Kudos, till the end of time, for episode two of The Workplace, which is an awesome Office parody, featuring all the Kotaku community, that you must read.

But yeah, then things got weird. I got an email from a new member of the Kotaku community called ‘Cake Statham’, with the following…

I hereby nominate The Stath for kudos. He has done a fantastic job of keeping us all safe this week and has been in top form. I’m willing to say this is Statham at his best.

Strangely enough, Blaghman also nominated ‘The Stath, for his ability to remain in ‘top form’ throughout the entirety of his latest blockbuster movie Safe.

I don’t know much about this ‘The Stath’, but I sure feel a lot more safe knowing that there is a man, in top form, posting on Kotaku. I give these nominations a resounding four stars.

Thanks ‘The Stath’.

Powalen nominated Cakesmith, for his hard work putting together the Minecraft server.

Virus sent the most indecisive nomination email ever, but finally settled on Fled and Batgirl for being “rad people” who are always nice to everyone.

I got this email from Bish…

HEY LISTEN!

HEY LISTEN!

HEY LISTEN!

HEY LISTEN!

Apparently we’re sending you terrible photoshops of your head on various people or something! But I thought that was weird. Also I didn’t have the time 🙁 So I’ll just say this: Happy Birthday for Sunday, Mark!

For noms, how about that Mark Serrels guy. He has done some pretty cool stuff in the past 363 days, I guess.
Also for ‘Nick’ and ‘Stu’ in the articles about Minecraft splitscreen.
Some great commentors; well reasoned arguments with a very healthy sense of humour to roll with the more trolly people in said articles.
It’s a nice change from, well, reading comments from, say, Cheesus.

HAVE A SMASHING WEEKEND THEN, EY LAD?

-Bish

LOL Cheesus. Let’s just say we won’t be hearing from him in a while.

And speaking of Cheesus, Strange gave him the dreaded Anti-Kudos. But she also used her powers for good, nominating Freeze S. Preston Icequire (I totally just got the ‘Icequire’ joke just then…) for his “hilariously awful” alter-ego Yellowius.

Then there was the real deal — Greenius — who did one of patented ‘NOM EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD’ emails!

First off I’d like to nominate Effluvium Boy for his amazing singing on Team Speak. While we’re on the topic of Team Speak, I’d also like to nominate Batgirl/Jugsy because she’s always funny and makes me laugh, but oh man… drunk Batgirl is a whole nother story! That girl is the life of the party and sooooo much laughs were had because of her. So funny!

Cakesmith (again hehe) because he set up a Minecraft server for the TAYbies 😀

Becaroonie for being awesome and gifting me a copy of PixelJunk Eden and for also starting to post more in TAY!

The Stath because Stath.

Everyone who helped me out with my Marketing assignment survey for University!

…and to everyone who helped me out in Minecraft.

last but definitely not least…

You! for beating Inferno 3 (and I assume Trials Evolution), congrats!

Yes. Thanks Greenius, I’m glad that you mentioned that I did, indeed finish Inferno 3, an achievement that ranks number two in the ‘greatest things I’ve ever done’ list. Number one being that one time I managed to beat everyone at Remember This.

This is an artist’s impression of my reaction upon completing Inferno 3…

Scree nominated Freeze, Virus, Nova Cascade and Greenius for helping out with my birthday pic (thanks dudes!)

Alex Pants went crazy with noms also. He nominated, in bullet point form…

– Batgirl for the amazing things she says when she starts drinking (this sounds really creepy and/or sad, but I promise you it isn’t!)

– Flu for his astounding renditions of Rubber Ducky and Rainbow Connection. Have you heard them, has anyone linked you to them? I’m too lazy to do that. Oh okay fine.

– Bish for always making it really awkward when I go on TeamSpeak by showering me with strange compliments.

– Also Cakesmith and Pez for paying for a Minecraft server that we have already obliterated once. At least I think Pez helped pay for it, but if he didn’t, he gets a nom anyway, I guess!

What about that Cakesmith guy, eh? Not only did he help set up the Minecraft server, but he also gave Shane one of these things, and was gifting games to folks — including Masha, who nommed him along with Shane and others.

So, congratulations to Cakesmith! You’re this week’s winner of Community Kudos!

Have a great weekend everyone — and thanks so much for all the Birthday wishes, photoshops and everything! You guys are amazing and you continue to make this the best job in the world!
