Foxtel On Xbox 360 Adds Kinect Voice And Gestures

If you’re a subscriber to the Foxtel app on Xbox 360, you might have noticed that basic Kinect voice controls don’t work so well. An update due to roll out today should fix that, making Foxtel fully Kinect compliant.

You should be prompted for an update — I’ve not yet switched on my own 360 to confirm this — and sign back into Foxtel on Xbox 360 in order to get Kinect up and running.

The update also changes how parental permissions on the app work. Where previously you had to manage these via the Foxtel website — a clumsy solution, given there’s no inbuilt 360 browser — the permissions should now be based within the application itself.

  • Cool. Question to everyone. Anyone have buffering issues at night? I have a 14Mbps conneciton and can run movies during the day no problem, but some nights movies will sit there buffering every 2 to 5mins. I have no issues running HD movies from Zune. I presume there are too many people connected to foxtel and they dont have enough bandwidth.

  • My feedback on the upate:
    – interface is now really slow and flickers now and then (feels like Fetch TV did when it first came out).
    – the streams seem better quality but buffer ALL the time now even though they are only consuming around 800kb/s (am connected at 22,400kb/s).
    – the voice control seems to be set off by the actual content playing on the channels, with some shows making the interface either fast forward, change the channel or stop the show…?)
