If you want to get excited about the upcoming release of Persona 4: The Golden on the PS Vita, there are few better ways than watching its opening cinematic. It features a style-drenched, poppy run through the cast of characters, all accompanied by “Pursuing My True Self” by Shihoko Hirata.
If you are a regular reader, you know that I’m quite a fan of Persona 3 now that I’m finally playing it on Vita. I haven’t played Persona 4 and know next to nothing about it, except that it’s widely held to be better than Persona 3, and the Vita version will feature all new bonus stuff similar to Persona 3 Portable on the Vita.
Will I be able to wait until later this year to play this game, or will I have to download it and at least give it a run on PS3 before then? Only time will tell. In the meantime, let’s just watch this excellent opening cinematic a few more times.
And hey, while you’re here, here are the two openers for Persona 3 Portable, which leaves open the door that we might get a second video for P4 The Golden as well. These always ease the pain of dying and being kicked back to the menu.

And you know what? Despite searching high and low, I cannot find a video of the other one anywhere. It’s the groovy one that starts out with the clean electric guitar, if anyone wants to look for it.
I might just have to say “screw it” and buy Persona 4 on PS3. I want to play this game already, and I’m nearly finished with Persona 3. Then again, there is so little delayed gratification in the world these days…
