This Great Video Game Trailer Is Incredibly Upsetting

Most video game trailers flirt. They tell you: If you play this game, you will feel awesome. The new live-action trailer for Metro: Last Light doesn't do that. It's here to make you sad.

It's harrowing, wrenching, emotionally manipulative and captivating.

I usually prefer video game trailers that show some gameplay. Not this time. This one's got mood, a mood that makes me care and makes me hope the game that follows can match it. Given the glorious squalor of the last Metro game, it has a shot. (Plus, we've already seen lots of gameplay from the 2013-scheduled first-person shooter.)

Now I really want to play Metro 2033 again.

Also, it'd make me very happy if Last Light had an achievement which required you to not kill another human. They could call it "No Russian".

same, after watching that i want to go back and play it again.

My God that was good. I hope the game manages to capture that feeling of shock and lost hope.

I will buy that game just for that trailer.

Metro was good but I had trouble playing for more than an hour without feeling a little depressed. The game was heavy to say the least and I hope the next one is the same cause by the end I felt like I had survived something rather than played a game.

Absolutely!! 2033 was one of the most immersive games I've played. Really claustrophobic & thoroughly depressing.

Also the only game that's beaten me - completely ran out of gasmask air filters and had to start again (they only last about 30 secs each on Hardcore Ranger).

Even read the book once I found out it was based on one - badly mangled translation but still nobbad.

Really looking forward to Last Light!!

I loved it although i would have liked to see more of the creepiness of metro in the tunnels pumped into the trailer they did a great job on it.

    wow.....just wow

It looks like I'm the only one who didn't get barred up over that trailer. Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to Last Light, but that trailer was pretty clichéd and Hollywood.

    That's one tough metro building!

that was incredibly distressing. as much as i'm sure it'll be an amazing game, it's just not for me.

If she got up when the guy ran past warning her, she would've made it through the door. LOL
