A Hard-Drive In Slow Motion Is A Thing Of Beauty

There's one in your Xbox 360. There's one in your PS3. There's probably at least one in you desktop and/or laptop as well. Hard drives are everywhere, and have been with us forever, so we tend to take them for granted.

No longer.

Like the human body, it's only when you break it down and slow things up that you see how remarkable these things are. And maybe, just maybe, why they're so damn expensive.

that's a lot of seeking, defrag your hard drive! unless they were copying... that makes more sense...

Well there you go. Had no idea that hard drives were waterproof. Learn something new every day.

"might have been a lie, that last one"

"There’s probably at least one in you desktop .." Really? Ya think?!

Only SSD's for me. (They're not waterproof)

What do you mean expensive storage is cheap as hell these days just not MS HDD's because they need to gouge through the roof for their proprietary crap

True they cost more than they did a year ago because of the Thailand floods stopping production for a while

By working in a reasonable job for less than a day, you can own that ridiculous technology to store 2 million photos or 1500 full length movies.
Don't even get me started on the crazy price of iPads. Those things should be $200,000 and restricted to elite military.

    Waterproof?! Waterproof?!

I nearly shit myself when he pulled the cover off. The tolerance on those platters is down to nanometres. It's crazy.

    Waste of a 500gb HDD.

considering its a Quantum drive, i imagine its best days are past it

its gavin from rooster teeth! :D
