And Now A Guest Post From Gearbox Boss Randy Pitchford

Editor's note: Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford was sitting next to me in the Spike TV green room this afternoon, so I asked him to write a guest Kotaku post. He hesitated for maybe 15 seconds. Here's Randy...

Hey, you're letting me do a live post? Crazy, Stephen... OK -- what's topical for us... Oh! Loot Chest! I'm not sure how many of the Kotaku readers are pissed off at us about this, but I want to apologise for us radically underestimating demand of the limited editions of Borderlands 2. I'm told that the Ultimate Loot Chest Edition of Borderlands 2 has sold out after just a few days.

We're seeing unprecedented demand and I've been communicating with our awesome publishing partners, 2K Games, to see if there's anything we can do. It doesn't seem likely that there can be more Loot Chests manufactured by launch, but please keep in mind I'm not the sales guy, not the manufacturing or distribution guy -- just a guy who wants to entertain and have happy customers. So if we can make something happen here, we'll report it on our website.

All I'd hope for would be more Loot Chest copies for Australia that aren't EB Games exclusives (please?!) :)

I like Randy Pitchford. A lot of the comments and interviews he gives come off quite genuine and positive.

Ordered mine two weeks ago, NO REGRETS. Well, I regret having to wait so long for it to come to me, but I guess I love Borderlands, so I am willing to wait :3

hehe I got into an EB on the day they were released for pre-sale. The guy behind the counter hadn't checked his mail for the release info yet and said "What is a loot chest?" then put his order in right after mine.

I hope more loot chest units are manufactured. I know I'm not the only person prepared to purchase one if more are made available. It's all about supply and demand in the end I guess. I went to order one at EB games and it was out of stock before I could even press the preorder button.

What a horrible representative for gearbox. He is asked about more loot chests and just laughs at the gaming community that feeds his family. This guy should be fired for treating the fans like a joke.
