Need For Speed Movie Happening, Spielberg And Dreamworks Attached

Not content with keeping cheesy dialogue and two-dimensional characters relegated to minute-long cutscenes, Electronic Arts has signed with Dreamworks, Steven Spielberg and Act Of Valor writer/director Scott Waugh.

The press release uses words like "high-octane" and "fast-paced" to describe the movie which is being fast-tracked through the production process for an early-2014 release.

The pairing of the Need For Speed franchise with Dreamworks and Spielberg makes sense. It's a hot property that will translate well to the screen the same way Michael Bay's Transformers did (which had Spielberg and Dreamworks attached also).

It's curious that Waugh has been attached as a director for the project though. Act Of Valor was a great action/war movie that was shot differently to anything I've seen before, and I really enjoyed it.

Hopefully he brings the same style to the Need For Speed movie, rather than the automotive gymnastics session that was the trailer for Need For Speed: The Run that Michael Bay put together.

What do you want in the Need For Speed movie? Which cars? Which girl? What story? Who stars? Speculate away!

    Vin Diesel!

Na, Vin is to bussy doing his own FF movies to bother with NSF. More lilky they will have Matt Damon.

Matt Damon, and the whole thing will be CG. Infact, they will use NFS oline game modes for all the racses.

So it will be like if they made The Fast and the Furious into a movie?

    Wait...

I get this mixed up with fast and the furious...or is it?.............DAMMIT!

This could be awesome, considering Scott Waugh did the upcoming "The Prototype", here http://www.beyondhollywood.com/what-is-the-prototype-and-dammit-why-do-i-have-to-wait-until-2013-to-see-it/
    and trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1p0_R8ZLB0&feature=youtu.be

Considering he did that with "low budget", imagine what he can do with the money backing from Dreamworks and Spielberg.

Well most need for sped games have some sort of story so maybe, lets hope they dont included dwayne johnson in this, terrible actor

No explosions or CGI and this will work.

Bet it will have all the cool gangsta crap that fast and the furious does, well, im sure there's a big enough audience that loves that considering how many they have made, personally, I'm not going anywhere near it. The main guy will be racing for a girls love or to save her or something.

So... they couldn't get Halo off the ground. Or Bioshock. Or even bloody Uncharted. But Need For Speed - they can make a movie out of THAT. Bravo, Hollywood. Bravo. *slow clap*

So, my mystical powers of ESPN tell me that this is going to be like Fast and The furious.

Other then a FF clone what else could a Need for Speed movie be about?

Absolutely must not contain Shia Lebouf. It's #1 priority.
#2 Priority is not having any of the cast from twilight.

Now, fuck CG, I want real cars doing real stunts, otherwise cancel the film today, or may the internets dissolve as much income as possible from the box office.
Dreamworks, If you give us a fake film, we'll give you fake money in exchange. Booya!

I think Chris Cooper would be awesome in any potential storyline. We need more Chris Cooper in general.
