Need For Speed Movie Steps Closer To Reality

A couple of months ago, EA started expressing interest in a Need for Speed movie. Now it looks like it might be happening.

DreamWorks has acquired the rights to EA's racing franchise, the film studio said in a press release today. From the release:

Brothers George and John Gatins developed the original story with George writing the feature's screenplay. The screenplay is based on the Need for Speed series, but is not based on an individual game. EA will produce along with John Gatins and Mark Sourian. Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is attached to direct, and the project will be fast-tracked at DreamWorks with a target production start date for early next year, for a 2014 release.

If they're looking for titles, allow me to suggest 2 Need 4 Speed.

I think we have a Need for Speed movie...its called Fast and Furious.

I'm glad someone else said this, I thought that initially but thought I must have been missing something

This. I've always seen the Fast & The Furious movies as Need for Speed movies as well heh.

    Tom Cruise agrees.

Agreed that if you want a Need for Speed movie any of The Fast & The Furious Movies would do.

    Things that will go wrong.
#1 In a movie that should be about cars and driving them fast this will instead focus on the big name star they get to be in it.

#2 The cars will all be stock looking, instead of tuned to the extreme.

#3 The "Hero" car will be an incredibly stupid choice.

hopefully they will do this right. put some small time actors in there and make it more about the cars and driving.
creative story line for once would be nice instead of the same old bullshit that F&F keeps pulling. i would rather it be based in a fictional world so they have more room to work with.
