The Rubbery, Goofy Gorn Will Be The Star Trek Game's Main Bad Guys

In an interesting choice for the upcoming co-op Kirk/Spock Star Trek game, the goofy Gorn will take the role of the primary villains. Probably best known for the legendarily bad fight scene between my namesake and a Gorn, hopefully the ones in the game will be more fearsome.

The press materials from Namco Bandai are delightfully clinical:

More than just lizard-skinned foes, the Gorn are a blood-thirsty race determined to conquer the galaxy. A true military dictatorship, the Gorn are made up of billions of self-sacrificing warriors across thousands of colonies, each focused on the conquest of alien races. By utilising their chaos-causing infectious venom, the Gorn seed mayhem and destruction as they destroy populations and deplete planets of their resources.

They utilise their chaos-causing infectious venom, do they? I wonder if they have a powerpoint presentation about how best to do that.

The game is set after the events of the first J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot, which means that it will presumably be grittier and way sexier than past Star Trek games. Also, likely with a lot of lens-flare.

Here's hoping the Gorns turn out to be good bad guys. We'll know more about the game soon.

Oh what the heck, let's watch that amazing fight scene one more time:

Surely they were only goofy because of special-effects tech at the time?

Errr the Gorn aren't supposed to be bad guys. Just misunderstood!
