A Love Letter To The Collect-o-Thon Platformer

In this “anything for an opportunity to feature Sly Cooper” edition of Speak Up on Kotaku, commenter GiantBoyDetective pronounces his love for platforming games that have you find countless things.

The Sly Cooper Collection has been sitting at the top of my backlog for a good while now and I finally got around to playing it again last night. I haven’t even tried 2 and 3, but the original is exactly the kind of game I love.

I know some people hate platformers where you have to collect loads of things, but those are my favourite kinds. Donkey Kong 64 was a collect-o-thon and love that game to pieces. Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro. These are the games that truly make me love gaming.

Are there other platformer titles I’ve somehow over looked on the PS3? Sonic games seem to be the only ones I can’t get in to.

About Speak Up on Kotaku: Our readers have a lot to say, and sometimes what they have to say has nothing to do with the stories we run.
