Community Kudos

Sweet lord of all that is good and wholesome I received a large number of noms this week. What has gotten into you people. I blame Steam sales. Welcome to Community Kudos.

Seriously — I have six nomination emails. All from one person! AMAZING.

Scree
Screes Noms
Hi Mark!

I know I am uber early with my noms, but I just wanted to get this out there.
I wanted to Nominate Smurfydog for suggesting the show Great British ghosts. Mum loves it enough to have watched it twice.
That’s all for now.

Scree

That was just the beginning.

Scree
Screes noms: The sequel
Mark!
How are you?!
I am very sure that you are sick of me already. =D
I’m trying to make sure I don’t forget anything…Or maybe I just want to do a Nom a day? I’m not sure myself.

Anyway, the nom. It’s to Jocon for gifting me not only Lara croft and the guardian of light, but all the DLC as well!
Oh god, shameless gaming month is never going to be completed /o\
That’s all for today.
So, have a good one ^^

Scree.

And then…

Scree
Screes noms: The Trilogy
Hi Mark,
Yes, I’m sorry to say it continues. I’m sure you felt some sense of relief in the last day or two, but alas, it was for nothing.
To make up for not sending in any Monday noms, there are two today.

Firstly to Beavwa for gifting me The magic Crystals game and Dear Esther and secondly to Nob for gifting me Dear Esther.
Because I couldn’t keep two copies (that would be greedy!) I gave one to Notorious R, as he wanted it.

That’s all for today.
Scree

And that wasn’t all!

Scree
Screes noms: The 4th nom that ruins the trilogy!
Dear Mark,
I hope this isn’t getting too annoying. I’m only doing it this way because I will forget otherwise. Mind like a sieve.
Might be why the 4th one ruins the lot =P

Anyway, I would like to nom Aleph, N00bheadshot and Tigerion. They gifted me games on steam \o/
I’m starting to feel guilty because I have not done the same D=
If you’re wondering what I received it was fuzzy trucks (or something), Limbo \o/ and Train simulator.

Hope you have a good day,
Scree

And it kept going!

Scree
Screes noms 5: The Gritty Reboot
Dear Mark,
I hope the headings are at least making you laugh. That’s all I aim for.
Sorry if they’re annoying, but I seriously will forget. Even if I write them down, I’d probably forget where I’ve written it down and accidentally throw it out.
Best!

Anyway, I nominated Ser Nobulous as he has begun calling himself for gifting me the Dead space pack on steam. All because he heard me and Pyrean discussing how it was his favourite survival horror and that I didn’t have it on teamspeak.
\o/

Hope your day isn’t too tiring.
Scree

The headlines were making me laugh!

Scree
Screes noms 6: The sequel to the gritty reboot of a series that will never die!
Dear Mark,
This is the last one, I promise.

Anyway, onto the noms. I would like to nominate You, yes you, Mark Serrells, for putting up with my almost daily emails about my kudos noms.

That’s all for today.
Scree

So far I haven’t had a seventh nom email from Scree — but the day is still young. At time of writing it’s 4pm! I estimate that, by the end of this post, I’ll have at least another four!

Thanks Scree! Seriously — you are the most consistent nommers, and I think it’s awesome that you don’t want to forget people, and make sure that everyone is remembered. It’s awesome.

But yeah, the nominations this week have just been ridiculous. And each email is just a massive list of names. It’s insane. I don’t even know where to start. So I’m just going to take a deep breath while I listen to some Marvin Gaye.

Aw yeah. I feel much better now.

Bloody Steam sales. You guys are just insane. I’ll kick of things with Strange’s nom, because guess what — she’s just earned herself an OBLIGATORY OPRAH TAG!

Good day, Mr. Serrels.

With the Steam sales on there’s been a veritable overflow of generosity this week. I think I feel an Oprah moment coming on….yep….EVERYBODY GETS A NOM! LOOK UNDER YOUR SEATS PEOPLE: IT’S A NOM!!

-Strange.

And that’s about the long and short of it. This week’s noms were so massive in number, and so overwhelming in terms of the people nommed within the noms (Nomception) that I’ve had to change the way I do Community Kudos. For this week at least.

Instead of going through each single nom individually, I’ve decided to try and order it in a way that’s less pedantic and makes more sense for everyone to read. Please forgive me if I’ve missed any names…

First off Steam sales. I got a million nominations for Steam sales and folks gifting during the sales.

In no particular order…

– Cracklelacklelins
– Jo
– Aleph-Null
– Beavwa
– Crazyguy1990
– Welbot
– Tigerion
– Scree
– Pyreon
– Klutar
– Steve-O
– Lambo
– TheLastQuestion
– Noobheadshot
– Cakesmith
– McGarnigal
– Rize
– Jocon
– Powalen
– Trjn

All of the above folks were nommed for giving gifts over Steam. And I’m pretty sure that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

I also have to give special mention to Bish and Beavwa, who seemed to have pioneered the ‘Troll Gift’ or the ‘Anti Gift’. In particular it seems like every member of the Kotaku community is now a recipient of a game called The Secret of the Magic Crystals. Oh dear Jesus…

I was even gifted a copy of this game! Bloody Beavwa has legitimately put in about five hours into this game. I think he deserves a special mention for that…

Oh and it was Rocketman’s birthday. Here have a Luke.

We also had a metric buttload (this is a scientific measurement) of nominations for Strange for the meat she hosted. Special mentions went to her super hot chilli dogs which I now want to try. I am very, very hungry.

I also want to give special mention to Splicer, who has been going through a rough time at the moment. I won’t say too much publically on the site, but I would like to say that you’re all in our thoughts and many, many people wanted to wish you well after the difficult week you’ve been through. Thanks for sticking around and being awesome.

And I think that’s it!

Well, it’s been pretty difficult to choose a winner this week. But after having gone through my emails, I think I’m going to have to give it to Beavwa. Partly because he gave so many games to so many people, and partly because he has put so many hours into The Secret of the Magic Crystals. Well done Beavwa, you magnificent bastard!

Community Kudos is your chance to reward Kotaku readers/posters who have done incredible things throughout the past week: sporadic acts of kindness, deft commenting skills — if someone deserves to be called out for being an incredible human being, Community Kudos is the place to do it. Send nominations directly to me at this address! The winner gets a cool prize from my massive box of stuff.*

Disclaimer — I’m am really bad at sending stuff out, I have a list, I haven’t forgotten, I’m totally getting round to it. Sorry everyone!
