Here's The Slick First Trailer For Mass Effect 3's Animated Prequel

This is the first trailer for Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, an animated Mass Effect 3 prequel starring James Vega (voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.).

Paragon Lost is a collaboration between BioWare and Production I.G., the Japanese anime house behind Innocence, the animation sequences in Kill Bill, and the introductions to many of the Tales role-playing games.

I hope your not referring to the animation because it looks pretty terrible.

      are you kidding?

        No I'm not.

i gather that you could do better?

I watch a lot of Anime, and most of them have better animation than this.

Gotta agree, I've seen "smoother" anime,...

If you had to have the ability to do better than someone in order to criticise their work, then there'd be no such thing as movie reviewers, game reviewers etc etc.

Looks pretty dismal to me...... it justs doesnt fit in with the style of the series..... what the hell are those dinosaur things? :(

      + a billion.

Did anyone even like Vega? He was a bit vanilla for my liking.

I'm quietly optimistic, but I hope the plotline makes more sense than his backstory conversations in ME3 would suggest.

how did I know that was going to start with "SPACE......"?

    "starring James Vega"

    I'm out.

I agree, I thought that James was by far the weakest character in the whole series. He bought absolutely nothing to ME3 and to be honest Freddie did some pretty poor voice work

Hahaha... that intro was so badly written. It sounded clichéd and obvious. I suppose it's what you'd expect from a roughneck commanding officer, lol...
Even so, I'm hoping the series itself will have a better plot and be worth watching.

I get a funny feeling in regards to all this

    like "star wars"

like the Mass Effect universe will be pumping out stuff purely to feed on my fan like obsession

    That... was awful.

Yeah that animation was not that great. It reminded me of Saturday morning cartoons from when I was a child (I thought that would be a good thing, but I don’t think it really is).

Vega is not the best character to flesh out – no one was really asking for this. But I am happy that they’re giving this a go and I would love for it to become so successful that they start working through some other more interesting characters (Thane and Garrus especially). I’d also love for an animated movie based on Anderson and his run in with Saren

Garrus is getting an issue on the new Mass Effect: Homeworlds comic later this month. I think that's about all the 'fleshing out' he'll probably be getting, unfortunately.

Am I the only person who liked Vega?

No, I thought he was pretty cool.

Why did he have a "Forever Normandy" badge before he has set foot on the Normandy though?

Normandy was a famous ship by that stage?

Yeah, I actually liked Vega too.

I don't get the "Forever Normandy" badge thing either, maybe they'll explain it in the show. While the animation quality isn't fantastic, it's still pretty good and I like this style more than what was used for that DA Dawn of the Seeker flick.

Of course what I'd really love to see is a series of shorts based on that Blasto the first Hanar Spectre and his Elcor partner dialogue in ME 3.

Vega was a cliche but a real likeable one. One thing I can say about Bioware is that they can make any character feel real, not matter how unoriginal the idea behind them may be. The best best example of this is many of the characters in DA2, they were unlikeable but I always got the sensation that that's because I wouldn't like them as real people, not because they were poorly written.

Vega was a fricken douchebag- from his toes to the tips of his fauxhawk. All the time I was just waiting for him to bench press a Snooki...

Didn't know this existed 'til now. After watching this trailer I'm not even gonna bother looking at it when it comes out. It just looks awful and the narrator was so cliche.... I mean sure some might like the animation but it's just not my cup of tea.
