New, Awesome Grand Theft Auto V Screenshots

Rockstar games slyly released two new screenshots for Grand Theft Auto V today, tucking them within an engaging Q&A posted on the development studio's official site.

You want more?

It's not clear when we're getting more. Here's what Rockstar says [emphasis added by Kotaku]:

"What is going on with GTAV?" — received via Mouthoff

We are very busy working on the game! Everything is going well, but the game is a huge project. We should have more information and some new assets for you soon.

"Why don't you give us more news?" — received via Mouthoff

As we have said before, we have often had long gaps between asset releases on previous games and will continue to do so in the future. We are sorry if you find this frustrating, but please understand, we don't do this because we ‘don't care about our fans' 'don't respect our fans' 'hate GTA fans etc' — precisely the opposite! We do it because we want to make sure we only release 100% correct information, and because we want to keep plenty back for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it. The only things we care about are that you enjoy the experience of actually playing the game and that we release accurate information. We just have not been in a position to show more of the game than the trailer and will not be for a while yet. We did, however, manage to sneak a quick screenshot out for you… it's not much, but we thought it was pretty fun.

....We will try and get some more screens for you soon and then another trailer when we are ready.

Hmmm, hopes of playing GTA5 this year are dwindling. That city looks huge.

Those are a pair of great looking screenshots... very nice.

I'd happily wait another 2-3 years for this game so long as it has as much content and as many mechanics as GTA SA does.

    Dear Rockstar,

    Please bring back tanks

    Regards,
    GTA Fanbase

There was tanks in GTA IV, just they were a suburbanised version.

weren't they compressed air projectiles? f'ing funny when they bent cars out of shape while the driver tried to get away lol

    Dear Rockstar,
Please don't make your cars feel like they are driving on ice in slow motion.

    Sincerely,
    Me.

      Dear Rockstar,

Don't listen to him, cars controlled perfectly!

      Sincerely,
      The Majority

This. Driving took skill in GTA IV, even to the point that drifting could be done but only after hours of normal driving. Or motorcycles could be used instead (much easier to drift around tight corners). Let's face it, no one keeps the pedal pressed all the way down while trying to turn a corner except those who don't have licences.

+1000 oggob and Parana, the car handling in GTA IV is FANTASTIC. Perfectly balanced fun and realism.

Except for the weird 'top-heavy' physics for every car. Trucks and SUVs, sure that makes sense... but a sedan taking corners like an SUV is not good.

My biggest problem with the GTAIV driving was that a control stick isn't a steering wheel. The rest of the controls for vehicles made sense but the analog control stick and how those values translated to 'wheel position' really needed tweaking.

But I guess the majority just learned to live with it and decided it was good enough.

    Dear Rockstar,
Please don't screw up the PC version.

    Sincerely,
    The PC fans of Rockstar.

My only concern is that it will run like a dog just like GTA 4 did. Fingers crossed they get the game well optimized.

I concur. Absolutely, positively loved GTAIV...but yes, it ran a touch sluggishly.

Btw, there is no way this is coming out this year guys. Mark my words.

Would prefer them to take longer and make sure it runs 100%. So next year is fine by me :)

      Dear Rockstar,
I second this, please don't screw the PC version yet again.
      Sincerely,
      Worried Rockstar Fan

It looks very nice, and that city looks huge! I wonder if the 360 version will require multiple discs...

I don't mind if it comes on 4 discs, as long as there is HD content. I'll happily install it to my XBOX HDD.

Looks nice, wonder if this is actually indicative of what it will look like on a PS3/360 however....

I learned to love the car controls in GTA:IV. First night of playing it I tried driving around like I did in SA and ended flipping my cars more times than a Blues Brothers car chase haha. But once I got the hang of it, it was fine. The beauty of it really lay in the multiplayer.

because the driving was harder, pulling off awesome moves online were the best cos people would stop and admire your skill. I remember handbrake dodging an RPG in a CAR JACK CITY match and my random team-mates were stoked haha. Good feeling!

Well there go my underpants.. aahhh f**k it i'll keep wearing them.

Any word on which platforms this will be released on?

I assume it will be multiplatform, the same as IV. If that's the case I seriously hope the PC isn't version isn't held back by today's well obsolete consoles.

Last gta game I played was 1... or maybe 2 the top down driving ones.
I've been looking into getting one of the recent ones..
Maybe I can hold out until this one hits.. it looks good.

    ones.

If you've got a PC capable of running 4, keep an eye on steam during the big sale, no doubt GTA4 will be 5 bucks one day of the sale

First of all, I find it hard to believe that you have only played 1 and 2, but if you want to play the more recent ones, don't start with IV, start with Vice City or San Andreas.... You really have missed out on a lot.

Hmmm, I wonder if it will be a next gen launch title instead, those screens look amazing.

I't will be great that i might be able to play this on my WiiU when it comes out!
