Oh Those Frilly, Cute Outfits

Cosplayers used to make their own costumes. They had to in the beginning, because cosplay wasn’t yet a thing. But as the subculture has become better know, retailers sprouted up to cater to the needs of cosplayers, whether that be wigs, accessories, or costumes.

Today, we are going to look at one of the unsung heroes of cosplay: the costume maker. South Korea’s Yuhee has outfitted some of the country’s most well known cosplayers, such as Wolf (whom Kotaku previously featured).

In the above gallery, check out some of her frilly, cute and wonderful creations that bring games like shoot ’em up Touhou Project to life (among many, many others). She often works with ribbon and lace, and her dresses definitely share the same aesthetic — regardless if Yuhee is quick to point out that she’s a mere amateur. Some of her creations can even be purchased online in Asia for the equivalent of several hundred dollars.
