You know how restoration specialists can rescue a masterpiece from centuries of dust and grime, restoring it to its original glory? That’s how it feels playing Okami HD.
Watching the PS2 classic come alive in its remastered form made me think that I might not ever have seen a video game with such riotously vibrant colours. Even a visual feast like Flower owed more to realism in its pretty presentation than Okami originally did .
Okami HD looks like a painting brought to life and the new option to increase the on-screen illusion of paper grain does a ton to reinforce that conceit. Watch Capcom product manager Tristan take on a section of the game about an hour into the campaign and see how something that was already stunning become even moreso.
