Strike Suit Zero Should Satisfy Your Secret Macross And Steel Battalion Desires

Last time we covered space-based mech shooter Strike Suit Zero was back in August last year. Sufficed to say, the PC/PS3 title has come a long way since then. In the above developer diary — the first, actually — developer Born Ready provides us not only with details about the game, but very pretty footage of the player going toe-to-toe with battleships and fighters.

Comparisons to Appleseed and Steel Battalion are warranted, even expected, seeing as Japanese artist Junji Okubo had a hand in the design.

Going by the official site, Born Ready is planning a 2012 release on PS3 (via PSN) and Steam. Sadly, there’s no month or day to go with this just yet.

For a while it felt like there was a dearth of modern mech games, but with Hawken and now Strike Suit Zero on the horizon, the genre is looking rosier. Fingers crossed the developers nail the gameplay.
