Actress Ellen Page is surely one of the biggest draws for video game auteur David Cage’s Heavy Rain follow-up, Beyond: Two Souls. This video from IGN shows Page assuming the role of Jodie, the spiritually superpowered protagonist of Beyond: Two Souls, as well as a couple of her co-stars, who Eurogamer says are TV stars Eric Winter and Kadeem Hardison.
I’ll take their word for it — I’m terrible at recognising actors from shows I didn’t really watch.
I saw most of the early scenes at the gameplay demo I saw at E3, and it’s neat to see Page act out the roles next to her video game avatar.
Page and Cage are at Comic-Con this week talking about the game — in this interview with G4, Page talks about the many challenges of working in an empty room and performing the sorts of variable-outcome scenes that a David Cage game requires. Good stuff:
I take it the player is this non physical Aidan person she keeps talking to?
I think you get a chance to play as both?
You’ll play mainly as Jodie – Cage says so at the start of the game – with sequences where you play as Aidan as well. Cage has said previously that it’s mainly Jodie’s story – a much more focussed arc than the four lead characters in Heavy Rain.
I was mostly impressed by how Page puts out suggestions and gives notes on the character, just like she would in a movie. It seems she’s taking this role very seriously, and since I thought Heavy Rain was great, I’m very much looking forward to playing Beyond.
I love how she completely out Ellen-Pages the already, Ellen-Pagey character from Last of Us.
well..she is ellen page
