Here’s the debut screenshot for Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee HD, the hi-def remake of the 1997 PlayStation classic. The game will be a remake from the ground up, apparently, with both 2D graphics and 3D gameplay.

LamontThe graphics are actually 3D but positioned in a 2D perspective (similar as to how Blade Kitten was) .
They’ve actually said that multiple times on their Facebook page in response to people.

What ever happened to that quintology they were planning? They only got 2 games into it:
Abe’s Oddysee (first in quintology)
Abe’s Exoddus (bonus game, not part of quintology)
Munch’s Oddysee (second in quintology)
Stranger’s Wrath (another bonus game, not part of quintology)Come on guys, I wanna see the other games that were planned!

StuI can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait. I love the original 2D Oddysee games – one of the few PSOne games where the graphics matter nothing whatsoever – so getting them re-released with new visuals and identical gameplay (fingers crossed) is just perfect. Surround sound as well – the ambience you can achieve by placing sound in the virtual foreground / background of a 2D game is utterly engrossing. See Limbo for more information.
