Japan’s Ugliest Console Game Delayed. Again.

There are three things you can count on: Death, taxes, and Daisenryaku Perfect: Ruler of the Battlefield being delayed.

A real Japanese game studio with a real office and real desks and real computers is developing this absolutely crappy-looking game. The game is slated to be released on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 for ¥7140 (US$91) — that’s real money!

The game has been delayed a mind-boggling number of times: It was delayed in May 2011 and pushed to the fall. It didn’t make that release, and then it was supposed to be out this April. Then it was delayed to this winter.

And now? Now it’s been pushed back to this spring, once again to “further improve the game’s quality”. There’s reason to worry about quality, however: When Daisenryaku was released on the PSP, it was so buggy that the game was deemed unplayable.

Okay, maybe I’m being unfair. Maybe graphics aren’t everything. Maybe not having a buggy game isn’t everything. Maybe releasing the actual game isn’t everything, either. Maybe.
