Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Is The Open World Game That Shook Up The Industry [UPDATE]

There is no footage. There are no screenshots. There is nothing but a handful of tweets from those attending the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary attempts. All we know so far is there is a new Metal Gear Solid game, and it (apparently) looks incredible. Update: Now with first images!

Mark MacDonald was one of the folks attending, and he tweeted: “Demo of “Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes”, started w cutscene (all realtime), went into gameplay, open world, night, raining, base. AMAZING”

And followed up with: “Snake crawled @ avoiding searchlights, killed guard, rode jeep, called in heli for evac. Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere… Wow.”

The game is being created on Kojima Productions’ new Fox Engine, and was apparently running on current gen PC specs. No word yet on precisely what platforms the game is releasing on, no date — nothing really at this stage.

But this is a new Metal Gear Solid game. Most likely it’s the new Metal Gear Solid game, and it’ll most likely be the first game to use the Fox Engine. In short, this is a pretty big deal.

Hopefully, we’ll have video footage sooner rather than later.

Update: First images below. Click to see them in full size.
