Pitfall! On iPad Is What You Expect And A Little Bit Of What You Don't

If you're old like me, you played the original version of Pitfall! on the Atari 2600 way back when. Sequels to David Crane's iconic side-scrolling adventure have come and gone but none have quite captured the tense feel of the 1982 release. Yet, the 30-year-old classic seems like it'd be great as a mobile gaming experience, right?

In a word, yes. News of the updated Pitfall! hit a little while ago, and it was included in yesterday's App Deals. Pitfall! on iOS is an infinite runner but one that tries to stand out from the hundreds of other games in the crowded genre. You can get a feel for the experience by watching my hands-on preview in the video above.

    That is nothing like Pitfall!
If anything its more like Crash Bandicoot.

    I loved the Pitfall! games.
Although this is a blatent ripoff of Temple run haha
    Still looks fun though

I didn't see any pits in which to fall. Nor vines on which to swing, nor crocodiles on which to jump. What we got here is some sort of running through a temple. Seems legit... *cough-rip-off-cough*

This has absolutely nothing to do with Pitfall. They just recycled a name for nostalgia. Super Pitfall for the SNES was one mean platformer and the only Pitfall-related game worth mentioning.
