This $22,000 TV Makes Blu-ray Look Bad

Remember when Blu-ray first came out? And Sony was trumpeting it (and the PS3) as the paramount of HD clarity? Well, yes, Blu-ray still looks fantastic. Thing is, this LG TV just looks fantasticer.

Today, LG unveiled a new LCD-TV in South Korea. According to The Wall Street Journal, it's 84-inches across and boasts a resolution of 8.2 million pixels.

Priced at $US22,000, the television can render better clarity than DVD or even Blu-ray. This isn't HD, but rather, Ultra HD!

LG thinks it's possible to make a 96-incher, but for the time being, it will be content with this 84-inch model. Surely, LG can make do with that!

"But the new TV has 2,160 horizontal lines and 3,840 vertical lines. That’s much sharper than almost any video content available, including Blu-ray DVDs."
From the article... its just a 2160X3840 pixels, i run most of my games at a 5160X1050 res with 3 monitors.
Monitors are already at 2560 × 1440 so its not exactly midblowing that this is available.

your lack of knowledge is disturbing

So you can watch 4 blu-rays at a time at full res. Bring on back to the future :)

How the crap do you get a 84 inch t.v into your house! And what's next - really really really ridiculously HD.

Really, really, ridiculously good looking HD *pouts zoolander style

        ludicrous HD /spaceballs reference

So they finally discovered 4K resolution?

Absolutely pointless until anyone produces content in "Ultra HD".

I don't see why I couldn't hook it up to my PC and play games at 2160X3840.

Proving that the real world sucks and we must continue making our gods look better.

So now Bluray is soon to be irrelevant, I have no use for my PS3 now...
Who wants to buy a heap of BRs

Someone forgot to tell me when it was relevant :(

Thats the thing about BD, just cos the res bumped they can use the larger disks :P (in the next line of bd players/ps4)

I wonder if this has to do with the "rumours" i read early today, saying the PS4 was capable of doing ultra HD which seems a bit far-fetched.
