This Paranoid Conspiracy Theorist Might Be The Most Fun Mass Effect Marketing I’ve Seen

I still haven’t had a chance to play the new “Leviathan/” DLC for Mass Effect 3, but I’m kind of loving the alternate reality advertising going on for it.

The Alliance News Network Twitter stream, in the persona of reporter Emily Wong, “live” broadcast the invasion of Earth back in March when the Reapers hit. This week, it’s been temporarily taken over by one Bernard Plim, conspiracy theorist at large.

The delightfully hideous blog of the paranoid Mr. Plim hits all the right notes. Unreadable, lime-green text? Check. Tiled page background straight out of 1995? Check. Gripes against the media? Check. The man (C-SEC) trying to keep him down? Check.

I am the president and founder of the Conspiracy Accountability League Citadel Chapter. OUR PURPOSE IS TO REVEAL TO YOU THE SECRETS AND COVER-UPS THAT THREATEN YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I do the research so that you don’t have to!!!

But the best touch? The repeated, small-font requests of, “please send credits.”

All links on the site, sadly, link to “Leviathan” downloads instead of further into the rabbit hole of Citadel conspiracy theorists. It’s too bad; I’d like to have seen them take on the Keepers. Ah, well; there will doubtless be more DLC to make the fictitious Mr. Plim even more agitated.
