This Week In Games

PC games — and I’m speaking to those who have abandoned the console — this week is the week you get to experience the frustration, the rage, the fist pounding unfairness of Dark Souls. The port will most likely anger you, it won’t be to your normal high standards — but you shouldn’t allow that to dissuade you. You should play this game.

But hey, it’s up to you, whatever. No skin off my nose. You’ll only be missing the best game of 2011. Whatever!

Batman: Arkham City GOTY Edition (360/PS3)

What is it? Well, it wasn’t my Game of the Year, but I wouldn’t begrudge Arkham city a GOTY edition, as it was a pretty incredible game. Features all the DLC and stuff you’d expect from one of these things.
Should you care? I think so, particularly if you didn’t pick up the initial release.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive (PC)

What is it? It’s Counter Strike you dum dum! For your health.
Should you care? I have a soft spot for Counter Strike despite being painfully bad at it. I say yes — you should care.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

What is it? The PC port of what many called the best game of 2011. Funnily enough, I’m actually playing through this on the PS3 now. PC guys should pick this up so we can be Dark Souls buddies.
Should you care? Many have poo-pooed on the port, which is fair enough, but I still think this is worth playing. It really is an incredible, incredible video game.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)

What is it? Sequel to the Transformers game that was way better than everyone thought it would be.
Should you care? I’m not too fussed, but I think I’m in the minority here. This will most likely be a very well put together video game.
