Your First PS1 Games On The Vita Are Final Fantasy VII And… Um…

Sony had today revealed which PS1 games will be available and compatible for direct download and play on the PlayStation Vita when the handheld’s big 1.80 firmware update hits.

Things start out so well! Sony’s Don Mesa says “We are working hard to ensure that all of your favourite PS one Classics titles will be available for download directly on your PS Vita via PlayStation Store (PS Store) as soon as possible.”

But then this.

Here is a list of PSone Classics titles that will be available for download on 8/28:

Arc the Lad

Cool Boarders 2

FINAL FANTASY VII

Hot Shots Golf 2

Jet Moto

Syphon Filter

Tomb Raider

Twisted Metal 2

Wild Arms

Oh. Final Fantasy VII is great, as we’ve seen, but that’s it? Nine games? Sony said last week there’d be 100 made available. Meaning we’re likely to see them rolled out tortuously, ala the Wii’s Virtual Console, back in the day when people remembered the Wii even had a Virtual Console.
