      It used to be that a PC built 3 months ago needed upgrading. Nowadays thanks to the console market, developers are better at optimisation and a PC will last a lot longer. We are only now (2012) starting to see specs that will test recently built PCs.

      But even then, that’s just to run it on high. The minimum requirements are pretty OK, which goes to show how good developers are at scaling these days.

         It’s not that developers are better at optimization thanks to the console market – it’s that graphics in general have to be crappier to run on consoles, so even the beefed up PC versions are still not stressing the hardware in a decent PC.

      dont worry you can always go into the console and adjust it. Every game i play that doesnt have the slider has an extremely simple solution online. So dont worry 🙂

         Farcry 2 had a pretty horrible default FOV too. Unfortunately it wasn’t as simple as just editing an ini file or entering something into the console, but there was a hacky fix. Hopefully it’s easier this time around.

   Great. The PC I just got three weeks ago will just squeak by the high end specs thanks to having a super-new i7, though I probably shouldn’t have cheaped on the graphics card. It’s got 2 gigs of video RAM but it’s only a GT630. 🙁

      Wait, what am I saying? I’ve never even played a Far Cry game WHY WOULD I START NOW.

      This is what having a decent PC is really about – playing games so you can say your rig can handle them.

      So the real question here is, can my PC run Crysis yet?

      I have an core i5 and a gtx 670 non- oc and it can run it on ultra at 60+ fps but there is a lot of small screen tears. Extremely annoying. If you do overclock it and can get the tearing to go away plz reply.

      Okay WOW, I got it. Keep everything on ultra and assuming you have the optimal settings for Nvidia control panel just set the post FX in the video quality menu to medium. Max textures, water, lighting and everything n’ it runs beautifully and I didn’t even have to OC the 670.

    i’m taking those requirements with a grain of salt… the i7 requirement can’t be 100% accurate… for example i’m running a i5 3570k which i’m sure will be more than sufficient as the only thing its missing from the i7 3770k is HT… something i highly doubt this game will take advantage of… apart from that it seems my SLI 670’s should be up for the task 😀

    wonder if it’ll support nvidia surround (and eyefinity for you people that haven’t seen the light yet :P)

       The i7 is just an example of what would meet the high end. The actual requirement is for a modern quad-core.

       Not sure.. guess so.. but what I’ve noticed with CryEngine3 is that you can load all textures into RAM if you have enough, rather than it streaming/loading the textures as you go. So maybe this is one reason the high performance needs 8GB, so you can do stuff like that.

    Seems fairly good. Recommended is a good average for the last 2 or 3 years. Minimum takes you back 5 years. I should be able to get near the high end.. not quite a 7970 though.. I did just upgrade to a HD7850 and have 12GB ram on a AMD Phenom II 1090T processor..

    It’s nice that they have the ability, out of the box, to puch current gen hardware to the max. Recent games that have come out required HD packs and other DLC/Mods to achieve this but Far Cry is going to push things straight away.

    I’ve run everything on max settings and moderate AA for around 18 months now. The GTX 560ti is still a fairly impressive card and now it’s under $200aud (I think!) it’s a great upgrade for anyone still playing around with previous gen NVIDIA gear. I doubt FC3 will be the game that makes me rush out and spend money on a new video card, the top end 680’s are still priced beyond what I’ll pay for a new card.

    I think 6gb of ram is the minimum for most people’s rigs these days as well, it’s easy and cheap to set up a box that’ll inhale those recommended specs.

    Crysis 3, depending on MP options, will probably push me over the edge as far as new kit goes!

       dude, that GPU is your bottleneck. that 560-ti won’t even be able to play hitman at 60 fps w/ no tearing. We’re having to OC a 670 just to play farcry. Everything else is a thumbs up but your definately going to have to spend more than $300 on a card.
