Off Topic: What Was The First Album You Ever Bought?

Oh man, music. I love listening to music. But everyone has a skeleton in their closet. The very first album I ever bought was Bros' debut release Push. I was probably about seven years old. I even had a Bros t-shirt. But what was the first album you ever bought, and what are some of the music skeletons in your closet?

Man, I've truly listened to some dross over the years. I used to like the Scottish band Wet Wet Wet. I have bought Beautiful South albums and enjoyed them.

I don't know what's wrong with me...

Alright, now it's your turn!

First album I ever bought for myself was Nevermind, Nirvana. A surprisingly good choice, even on reflection 20-odd years later!

Great album. I stole my ex-girlfriend's copy just before we split, back in the day.

First one that i will say counts was white zombie - astro creep 2000 followed closely(20 seconds) by nine inch nails - pretty hate machine

Probably the best way to start ones musical life. Kudos!

the first CDs I bought were Beck - mellow gold and pantera - cowboys from hell

I'll add that i got to cheat as my older brother brought home some truely also albums over the years, so i got spoon fed good music that i could access from a young age.

Limp Bizkit - Significant Other... Best Album? Tool - Aenima.

I'm pretty sure it was Billy Talent II. As for first album I received? Probably S Club 7 or the Pokemon one (AMAZING)

LOL yeah i was given the pokemon one as a birthday present, that album rocked!

The Pokemon first movie soundtrack? I had that at one point, which is kinda of embarassing since I think I was 18 when it came out. I saw the movie in theatres. I even remember being given a Pikachu card for the Pokemon TCG along with my movie ticket.

I have that too but I think I got the one from the TV show (2 B A Master I think? first.

Yeah i still have them both in a box, with a whole mess of TCG cards, Dont feel bad Matthew, i was 18 when i went and saw the movie as well were 4 of my mates with me :P

In all fairness to me I think I was still the youngest in the group that went. :P

Man, screw it, that movie was epic. I should watch the rest of them at some point.

Man, so much Poke talk lately :P. It's been years since I last saw the TV show/movies so it'll be super nostalgic to go back and watch them... I should definitely do that one day!

Me and a few others are already playing through HeartGold/SoulSilver. Pokemon overload!

I have 15 seasons on a HDD but everytime i start watching i get about 3 eps in and then i've had enough of Ash lol

The dub must be hilariously bad and nostalgic but probably incredibly annoying too :P

My first was Pokemon. I still unshamefully remember half the songs.

Vacation where I wanna be, party on the beach with a you and me. If you need a holiday it's time to come and play. Repeat after me, I need a vacation.

That song sums up how I'm feeling at the moment perfectly. Oh and yes I haven't heard that for 10 years probably. So forgive my poor lyrics rendition.

    Offspring - Smash

And what a damn good album that was.

Me too ! love that album

      Ahhhhh, it's time to relax,
and you know what that means,
a glass of wine, your favourite easy chair,
and of course this compact disc playing and your home stereo.
      So go on, indulge yourself,
that's right, kick off your shoes, put your feet up,
lean back and just enjoy the melodies.
After all, music soothes even the savage beast.

Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole. Still one of their best IMO

Ben folds five -whatever and ever amen.

I have a rule that when I buy a new album, I listen to it no more than twice, then put it away for a week or so before relistening. Whatever and Ever Amen broke that rule. It was in my car on repeat for a month, and I still pull it out regularly. It's on my desk at work (along with Ben Folds: Songs For Silverman, Banco de Gaia: Last Train to Lhasa and Frampton Comes Alive...)

My first album I bought: Ghostbusters soundtrack.

Korn follow the leader then years later every rob zombie album now pirate everything

Wow....This seems like a fairly illustrious list of "first albums". I'm either far too old or far too honest.

My first album purchased with my own money was Hootie and the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View.

I honestly can't remember.. I remember the first album I was gifted for Christmas.. but not the first album I bought. A better question would be "the most embarrassing album you ever bought".. which for me would have to be the soundtrack of "Beverly Hills 90210" the original tv series.. I wanted the title track to learn the guitar section.. lol.. but to even own that album was a great embarrassment :)

Embarrassing? Everyone who bought Limp Bizkit falls into that category.

Limp Bizkit - Chocolate starfish and hot dog flavoured water, Is the earliest I remember.

    Pet Shop Boys.

Hopefully no-one even remembers them any more.

Go West is one of my all time favourite songs.

I only ever thought The Village People sung Go West. Why anyone would want to cover that song I have no idea :P

The Pet Shop Boys are awesome and their cover of Go West out camps the original if that is even possible.

Think it may have been Boyz II Men - The Remix Collection cassette in 95. I know my first CD was the Space Jam Soundtrack.

Frenzal Rhomb - Not so touch now

    One of life's big regrets.

Guns n' Roses, Use Your Illusion II. I stand by my decision.

Blaze of Glory - Jon Bon Jovi. Music from and inspired by the film Young Guns II. On record. I don't even have a record player (I played it on my parents record player back when I was a kid) but I still have that record.

Pet shop boys - on tape
    Prodigy on CD

2nd Beastie Boys - Hello Nasty

A guy in the office just admitted the first album he bought was The Bodyguard Whitney Houston, embarrassing.

My first vinyl purchase, with my saved up pocket money, was Bros - PUSH. Hilarious. My first CD I purchased was C+C Music Factory. Wow. And overall, what the hell was I thinking back then!?

Reading everyone's examples highlights just how young a lot of you are! •sigh• Everyone gets their turn. ;-)

Good format, I'm gonna copy you:
      First vinyl was Enya's Watermark.
And first CD was Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark.

Quite the diversification there, Strange! Nice one. :-)
