This Space Invader Origin Story Is Hilarious, Brilliant, And Sort Of Heartbreaking

Space Invaders: they move mindlessly. In formation, they slowly attack, heading towards earth with a terrifying, robotic certainty. But what happened before these invaders were selected to wage war on humanity? What happened then? In this brilliant comic, we get to see the Space Invader origin story — watch as he is born, grows up, falls in love, has his heart broken and then — tragically — is drafted to war!

The whole thing is just brilliant. Right through the heartbreaking end.

*sniff* that was beautiful on so many levels

That was so much better than I thought it would be.

I nearly didn't scroll to the final few panels. I knew how it was going to end and it was oddly gut-wrenching.

Aside from the technical inaccuracy of having multiple bullets from the defender on-screen at once... brilliant! :P

Brilliant. Now if you'll excuse me, i have something in my eye.

He wasn't drafted, he joined up willingly, which means he knew full well what he was getting himself into.

You could say that it has a lot to do with the girl's actions, she cheated on him with Mr Suave and that put him into a downward spiral, leading him to feel depressed and like nothing mattered. This in turn made him make choices based on this new, negative outlook on life, where he felt his life didn't matter, so he may as well throw it away by joining the army to unethically invade other planets for their natural resources and inevitably be killed.

    Heavy shit.

Moral of the story; never trust a man wearing a fedora
